GRAND CHARITY

At all meetings held in Lodges under the Grand Lodge a collection of Alms to Charity takes place. This is a well integrated part of the ideals and main purpose of Freemasonry.

The principles of the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Denmark is found on the Book of Constitution, and it will in §1 immediately appear that the main purpose of Masonic work is:

Brotherly Love; the qualities of kindness, understanding, tolerance and respect for the opinions of others.

Relief; charitable giving and activities to assist the welfare of Freemasons and the community as a whole.

Truth; aiming for a high moral standard.

Charity works on three levels; locally in the Lodges, regionally in the three Provinces and nationally in the Grand Lodge. Each part is conducted by the above mentioned levels.

When the subject of charity is brought up, it is very likely that money is the object. But charity is much more than monetary help and should go together with help in the widest possible perspective.

Charity is also the good experience that one individual can give to another when it is needed. Even a visit can make a difference to a person.

The most important thing is, that each and every Brother fully understands, that this is one of the fundamental principles of Freemasonry. To assist where relief is needed is a great part of a Freemasons work.

The Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Denmark support many charitable events.
